NAP LAB is pleased to unveil its promotional campaign for the newest collection, Ruhekontrol. It is a provocative line of ‘productivity-first’ furniture that reimagines rest not as leisure but as an optimized tool for efficiency. Recently presented at the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai, hundreds of visitors engaged with our philosophy, testing the furniture, sharing feedback, and, in many cases, attempting to place orders. We take this as a sign that we are moving forward in the right direction, together.

This season, we proudly present three stellar interventions in the future of rest: The EfficienSeat, The Catharsis Unit, and The D.R.I.F.T. Explore more through our promotional videos or purchase your annual catalogue for access to the full collection. For those who couldn’t attend the launch, stay tuned for upcoming activations and catalogue releases. For business enquiries, please contact us at naplab4u@gmail.com. We will get back to you with the best of our abilities.

NAP LAB: The Future of Rest Solutions (2025)

Created in collaboration with Sanjushrree Subash, Comissioned by Art Jameel

Group exhibition "Spoon, Spade, Shovel", Jameel Arts Center, Dubai, UAE, 2025.05

When does rest become resistance?

This series of instructional artworks interrogates the contemporary politics of rest through the lens of feminine labour and fatigue. By assuming an intentionally instructional tone borrowed from user manuals and product catalogues, the collection of chairs in a showroom-like setting toys with ideas of agency and provokes the viewer to question the rampant commodification of rest. The site-specific nature of the work, situated in alternately public and private spaces, further centres the body and invites the viewer to consider the spatial and gendered experience of rest-challenging not only who is entitled to rest but where and under what conditions.
